Antibacterial drugs
What groups of drugs will be prescribed for chronic prostatitis depends on the causes of its occurrence. If the infectious nature of the disease is identified, the main components of therapy will be antibacterial drugs. As a rule, they are selected with a wide range of shares, but sometimes others are appointed. The duration of treatment for exacerbation in chronic prostatitis depends on the severity of its manifestation. It may take 14 days or even 3 months to take antibiotics.

Anti-inflammatory drugs
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed to relieve discomfort quickly as they reduce inflammation and swelling. Thus, the pain is eliminated.

Sometimes hormonal anti-inflammatory drugs are used in physiotherapeutic procedures, i. e. electrophoresis, thus acting locally on the prostate. Alpha blockers
This type of drug is increasingly prescribed today for chronic prostatitis. Alpha blockers act on the bladder and prostate, which are their receptors. Therefore, they relax the muscles, thus making it easier to urinate. This means that the pain when urinating is eliminated.
But these drugs affect blood pressure indicators, alpha blockers lower it. They are contraindicated in people who have severe hypotension. This combination will lead to dangerous consequences.
Antispasmodics
Severe pain in the perineum is common during the exacerbation of chronic prostatitis. In this case, spasms of the striated muscles occur. This means that the use of antispasmodics and muscle relaxants is required.
General tonic and tonic drugs
This group includes drugs prescribed to improve the functioning of the gland. And they must necessarily be prescribed as part of the main drug therapy.
Topical preparations
Topical medications for the treatment of chronic prostatitis are particularly effective. In the case of prostatitis, these are rectal suppositories. In this form, pharmacological companies produce antispasmodics, antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The use of drugs in such a dosage form is possible both in the acute course of the disease, and in other cases, for example, after an operation.
Both suppositories and ointments injected rectally are sufficiently effective since they act directly on the prostate. When introduced into the rectum, they are absorbed into its walls and the prostate is just adjacent to its back wall of the intestine. In addition, such drugs for the treatment of prostatitis do not pass through the whole body and liver, where part of the active substance is metabolized.
It is important to note that it is forbidden to prescribe such candles and ointments on your own. Since a high concentration of the active ingredient is absorbed into the gland and if used incorrectly, overdose and complications with the wrong dose can occur.
